Recentemente a Rap Up conversou com Monica para saber mais sobre o seu próximo cd “Still Standing“, cujo primeiro single “Everything to Me” foi produzido por Missy Elliott. A cantora então foi perguntada sobre o novo cd da rapper, já que as duas são bem próximas. Ela disse:
“She’s working really hard on it. She’s got some crazy music on there, some stuff I was trying to steal for my record. I got a couple of things that she let me take, but she’s working really hard on [her album].”
Várias das faixas de “Still Standing” são produzidas por Missy, assim como nos três cds anteriores de Monica. Ela explica a química:
“I think I realized that she and I had this chemistry when she called me and told me to fly to Miami tonight for a real good reason. And when I walked in the studio, she was playing ‘So Gone.’ She doesn’t even tell me anything, she just knows.”
“So Gone” é um dos maiores hits da carreira de Monica até hoje.
O último trabalho de estúdio de Missy foi em 2005 com o excelente “The Cookbook“. Em 2008 ela veio com os singles “Best, Best”, “Ching-a-Ling” e “Shake Your Pom Pom”, os primeiros singles de “Block Party“, mas o cd nunca foi lançado. Ainda não se sabe quando será lançado, mas eu estou bem curioso. Missy é a rapper/produtora mais criativa de sua geração.
